2021 Kobler "Bacigalupi Vineyard" Russian River Valley Zinfandel

Review Date: 12/2023Power, structure and complexity all come together in this spicy, full-flavored and relatively tannic wine. Wafting from the glass, black pepper, blackberries and hints of smoky oak meld on the palate with rich, saturated black fruits, grilled plums and singed sage. *Cellar Selection* (JG)

The 2021 Zinfandel Bacigalupi Vineyards is a deep but transparent ruby/purple and gives off a floral perfume of blackberry, cedar, and white pepper. Full-bodied, it brings loads of juicy appeal, with fresh berries, apricot, and pressed flowers. It’s supple and has a good fresh lift to balance its ripe, rounded fruit. (AF)

Ripe dark fruit with toasted cedar, walnuts and hints of baking spices. Full and intense with a deep core of dark and blue fruit and tense acidity.

Email AaronPretty nose with really nice and ripe fruits, but there's like something holding back it's not going full tilt, but it's giving me all the fruit that I really need even if it's not all the fruit I might want out of a Zinfandel. Blackberry, bright blueberry, some dark stewed cherries, and some dark flowers in the background. The palate is juicy but still has structure, and really nice acidity. It's just lovely and easy and for the price, it's really compelling and quite an easy drink.
Notes
From a small, 2-acre block of 90+ year-old, head-trained Zinfandel.
