An intense purple, with fair nobility on the nose. Red and black fruits mixed, with a grand cru depth to the palate even if less seductive in youth than a Suchots or Malconsorts. However layers play out very well in the mouth with some little dark blueberries and bilberries right at the back. An excellent fruit acid balance without aggressive tannins. Drink from 2033-2040. The 2023 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru has a slight richer bouquet than the domaine's other cuvées. It has fine delineation and poise, with violet and iris flower notes infusing the dark cherry fruit tones. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, saturated tannins. It's silky smooth but the acidity keeps this on its poise. This is open with hints of blood orange toward the finish. This exudes class.(NM)

The 2023 Clos Vougeot from Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is excellent on both the nose and palate. The bouquet offers up a complex combination of black cherries, plums, bitter chocolate, woodsmoke, gamebird, dark soil tones and a lovely framing of new oak. On the palate the wine is full-bodied, precise and complex, with superb depth of fruit, lovely soil inflection, ripe tannins anda long, beautifully balanced and focused finish. All this beautiful bottle of Clos Vougeot is missing is the requisite time in the cellar to blossom into full maturity! 2040-2100.
