1982 Domaine de Jean-Bon 43 Year Old K&L Exclusive Bas Armagnac (750ml)
Notes
The wonderful and underappreciated Domaine de Jean-Bon from the Sourdois-Lacourt family is a tiny little farm in the very best part of Armagnac. The section of the Gers, often referred to as the Grand Bas-Armagnac, boasts the highest concentration of prolific producers both the aristocratic and expensive type as well as the humbler farmers who produce small amounts of brandy as part of their polyculture exploitation strategy. The beautiful '82 vintage is as well regarded in Armagnac as it was in Bordeaux. While the production goals are different in brandy and wine making, certain vintages are just undeniably excellent from a quality standpoint, and the '82 seems to regularly outperform others. As a contrast to the excellent '83, this vintage is more robust and fruit forward offering dense dried fruit, and wild exotic spices.
