The 2024 "Rouge de Vallée" is a bright and energetic Alpine red from a cooperative of 50 growers in the heart of the Aosta Valley. A blend of 70% Picotendro (the local high-altitude clone of Nebbiolo) and 30% other native varieties like Gros Vien, Neyret, Cornalin, and Fumin, it is partially aged in large wood barrels and stainless steel. The nose is fine and vinous, offering aromas of wild strawberries, red currants, and Alpine herbs with a delicate hint of white pepper. On the palate, it is light-to-medium bodied and vertical, featuring a crisp acidity and fine-grained, "crunchy" tannins. The finish is dry and harmonious, marked by a signature savory mineral snap and a slightly bitter, refreshing edge.
