2023 Les Athlètes du Vin Grolleau Vin de France
Review Date: 03/2026
This wine is light, bright, and just plain tasty. It starts off with red candy aromas, then shifts into juicy, tart red fruit. With its low acidity and gentle tannins, the cherry flavor pops on the palate. I really liked it, and next time I’m definitely trying it chilled- it's perfect for a warm day! Honestly, it’s the kind of bottle you can bring to anyone who likes an easy, refreshing red. Safe choice, and super enjoyable.

Notes
One of the most exciting projects in recent years is the négociant brand Les Athlètes du Vin—these French winemakers are all about value-driven, authentic expressions of the French terroir. Forming part of the Vini Be Good network across France, they work collectively to source and market their wines both domestically and abroad. The labels are the work of Michel Tolmer, the go-to artist for producers in the French natural wine movement for decades. 100% Grolleau from 60-year-old vines on slate soils. Hand harvested, carbonic macerated in stainless steel before 6 months élevage in cement tanks. Bright red cherry and forest fruits with passionfruit hints. Worth a short chill in the fridge before popping the cork to see the fruit really shine!
