Wine Enthusiast
Review Date: 07/2024A beautifully aromatic wine, this maritime-influenced bottling sings to notes of wild blueberry and strawberry preserves, cracked pepper and a touch of graphite. The succulent, mid-weight palate is framed in fine, savory tannins that structure the tangy blue fruit, with a wet-stone mineral core. (CP)

Paringa Estate is in Victoria’s Mornington Peninsula, a small region south of Melbourne that juts out into the Bass Strait and is surrounded by water on three sides. The climate here is one of the coolest in Australia, with a strong maritime influence. Founded in the mid-1980s by Lindsay McCall, who helped pioneer quality cool-climate wine production in the region, Paringa Estate is known for its meticulous viticulture and vibrant wines. The Peninsula Shiraz is co-fermented with 5% Viognier in small open-top fermenters, before aging in neutral barrels for 11 months. This is a fresh and delicately floral style of Shiraz, made with a clear nod to the Northern Rhone.
