Review Date: 01/2025A more vigorous purple. Fresher lively fruit on the nose. Not vastly concentrated but with plenty of raspberry fruit through the middle of the palate covering the bone structure nicely, with even a little tension at the finish. Drink from 2029-2034. Tasted Nov 2024.

Rich yet tangy, this has tremendous energy and firm tannins, yet shows a Chambolle finesse. Sweet cherry fruit meshes with crushed autumn leaves, dried morel mushrooms and dark spices. This monopole vineyard keeps coming into its own. The final blending will be done in April 2025, but François Moriamez makes a few representative barrels for tasting.

The 2023 Clos de la Maréchale is quite black fruity in personality this year. The wine’s aromatic constellation offers up scents of cassis, dark berries, coffee bean, a complex base of soil, gamebird, nutskin, a nice touch of oak and a topnote of currant leaf. On the palate the wine is focused, full-bodied and deep, with a beautiful core of pure fruit, excellent soil signature, ripe, buried tannins and a very long, elegantly balanced and complex finish. A lovely bottle in the making. (Drink between 2035-2085)

The 2023 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de la Maréchale 1er Cru had just been racked. This has much more cohesion and brightness on the nose with pretty, finely delineated redcurrant and wild strawberry scents. The palate is well balanced with fine tannins on the entry, gentle grip and slightly piquant red fruit with a judicious touch of white pepper on the finish.(NM)
