This moves seamlessly to the palate, which is equally pure and elegant, with fine tannins and a long finish. This beautiful wine is absolutely impossible to resist now but will have a wide drinking window over the next 10-15 years. (AF)

A very pale ruby color is supported by a complex, layered nose with rhubarb, earthy strawberries, red currants, violets and cinnamon. Full of sucrosity on the palate, it shows good concentration, a medium body, refreshing acidity, fine-tuned dusty tannins and a polished finish. Cherry pit and floral aftertaste. A stylish wine with cellaring potential but also ready to drink. Drink or hold.

The Giovanni Rosso 2020 Barolo Serra comes from a beautiful panoramic amphitheater of vines. This wine has an etched and vertical quality that you recognize in its lifted bouquet. Sweet cherry and plum are folded into riper aromas of blackberry coulis and raspberry tart. The tannins are quite elegant and firm, and the wine offers very good length and lasting freshness. (ML)

The 2020 Barolo Serra is a nervy, taut Serralunga Barolo. White pepper, chalk, mint, dried flowers, crushed rocks and orange peel drive through a core of red-toned fruit, adding brightness and tension throughout. Readers who enjoy tense, salivating Barolos will find plenty of those qualities here. Pretty floral overtones brighten the finish nicely. (AG)
