A ruby hue, the 2019 Barolo is highly aromatic, with floral perfume, wild raspberry liqueur, roses, and incense. Medium-bodied, with lovely concentration and structure (but approachable), it is long through the palate, with red cherry, berries, and its floral perfume lasting through the finish. Drink 2024-2040. The wine has a bold and upfront nature, open with aromas of candied cherries, medicinal herbs, leather and savory spices.. The palate delivers the savory side of the wine, while roasted strawberry and preserved plum play alongside hints of oolong tea. It unfurls with dark spices and the nostalgic sweetness of root beer and cola. Despite its full body, the wine is remarkably rounded but will go the distance. Drink Now - 2040 (JP)

The 2019 Barolo is a gorgeous entry-level offering. Crushed flowers, sweet pipe tobacco, dried cherry and cedar blossom from the glass effortlessly. This mid-weight, beautifully perfumed Barolo is all charm. Bright acids give the 2019 notable verve. (AG)

Notes

The 2019 Giovanni Rosso Barolo is a magnificent, classic expression of the vintage, drawing its concentration and elegance from the estate’s holdings across the Serralunga and La Morra townships. The nose is deep, complex, and highly aromatic, with concentrated notes of dark cherry, rose petal, and balsamic herbs, beautifully integrated with savory hints of licorice, tar, and sweet cedar. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerfully structured, showing a dense core of fruit framed by firm, yet extremely polished tannins and a vibrant, lifting acidity that drives the intensity. The finish is exceptionally long, pure, and deeply savory, confirming the wine’s profound depth and cellar potential. This is a benchmark Barolo that requires significant time to unfold its complexity.
