More mineral-driven, the 2021 Chardonnay Sierra Madre Vineyard has lots of crushed stone, white flower, and honeyed citrus and orange blossom notes in a more medium-bodied, vibrant, focused style. It doesn't have the richness of the Peake Ranch but is still brilliant stuff and might even benefit from a year in bottle. 94+

Peach flesh, honey and oak aromas are kissed by sea breezes on the nose of this bottling. The palate is vibrant and zippy, offering tangerine juice and grapefruit spritz flavors before creamier almond-milk elements emerge. (MK)

Peake Ranch Sierra Madre Vineyard Chardonnay leans toward classic California style with riper fall fruits and a rich aroma of toasted oak and pie crust and butter on the nose. On the palate, citrus is sweet and deep in flavour, expressed through notes of lemon and tangerine zest. Non-fruit character of wet stone and creamy yoghurt add mineral complexity and texture to a medium finish. (VR)
