The 2023 Viré-Clessé Les Raspillères from Frantz Chagnoleau opens with aromas of ripe apricot and quince, floral notes and a touch of flinty minerality. The texture is lush but balanced. The grapes are planted in a steep vineyard at 360m elevation on limestone soils that Chagnoleau harvested on 7 September and fermented in large oak casks. This wine will drink well on release but there is also enough substance for mid-term ageing.(CC)
