Review Date: 06/2025Juan Bautista describes 2023 as "one of the most complicated vintages of my career", but he did a great job with this assemblage of Viura, 25% Tempranillo Blanco and 5% Garnacha Blanca. Textured, layered and well balanced, it has aniseed and lemongrass aromas and a palate of apricot, pear and citrus.

The 2023 Blanco 2º Año hails from Rioja Alta. A blend of Viura and Tempranillo Blanco, it aged in barrels and concrete. Golden in hue, it opens with a creamy profile, subtle oxidative notes and a touch of dried pear. On the palate, it’s broad and grippy, with a nutty, saline finish. The 2023 is a potent white. (JH)
