Expressive aromas of pomegranate, red cherry, salty earth, hibiscus, rhubarb, and orange zest unfold from the glass. Focused and intense on the palate, it drives linearly through a long, resonant finish. As it opens in the glass, it builds and continues to unfold its layered depth. Built to age for 20+ years. The Casteel Pinot Noir is the estate’s tete de cuvée each vintage. A selection of the vintage’s top lots. Elegance erupts in the aromatics, as intense red florals are given over to red florals, forest floor and a poignancy of dried red fruits. The palate is lifted and light, with forest fruits and pine sap interplaying with the elegance of blood orange and earth. There are savoury spices, wild mint and fresh alpine meadow herbals, but all of it takes a back seat to a refined fruit-driven intensity.

The 2023 Pinot Noir Casteel comes from the Justice, Lewman and Bethel Heights Estate Vineyards. It has intense aromas of black cherry, blueberry, blood orange, tobacco, conifer and violet and releases additional nuances with each return to the glass. The full-bodied palate is powerfully styled with concentrated, mineral-laced flavors. It’s structured by silky tannins and bright acidity and has a long, graphite-laced finish. It will benefit from time in the cellar.
