Notes
Akra Chryssos represents the culmination of four generations of viticulture on Santorini. Raised among the island's vineyards, Spyros Chryssos follows the path laid by his great-grandfather Dimitris, grandfather Vangelis, and father Christoforos, each of whom expanded the family's holdings while preserving Santorini's unique traditions, including organic farming and the iconic kouloura-trained vines. For the first time in the family's history, Spyros is bottling wines under his own label, marking an exciting new chapter while honoring generations of vineyard knowledge. His approach returns to one of Santorini's most historic expressions: Nykteri. Sourced from the family's organically farmed Louroi vineyards in Pyrgos Kallistis, the wine comes from 100-plus-year-old Assyrtiko vines trained in the traditional kouloura system. These exceptionally low-yielding vines produce fruit of remarkable concentration, while whole-cluster pressing, native yeast fermentation, and seven months of aging on the fine lees in 500-liter oak barrels create a wine of depth, precision, and aristocratic elegance that pays tribute to the island's winemaking heritage.
