Based on 75% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre, and the rest Cinsault and Counoise, the 2021 Parabellum Couleé sports a deep ruby/plum hue to go with rocking levels of red and black fruits as well as peppery herbs, violets, and some meaty, spicy background nuances. It might go undetected in a blind lineup of top Hermitage. It benefits from air and will evolve for 10-15 years in cold cellars.

Coulée, you are one fine wine. This Syrah-driven blend launches with black cherry, dark chocolate and Thai basil aromas, not to mention the scent of fresh rain. A crisp, clean mouthfeel is home to Bing cherry, orange and clove flavors. The Coulée's tannins are silky, and its acidity, frisky. (MA)

A whiff of balsamic spice combines with crushed blackberries and menthol as the 2021 PARABELLUM Couleé smolders in the glass. Silken and deeply textural, this splashes across the palate with masses of ripe black fruits complemented by dark chocolate and clove. Sweet tannins frame the finish, as notes of cocoa and black raspberry fade slowly. This is a tremendous value for Force Majeure fruit and winemaking. (EG)

This is a Rhone-style blend of 75% syrah, 15% mourvedre, 5% cinsault and 5% counoise. Herb and cardamom aromas to the blackberry fruit, with a touch of caramelized onion. Full-bodied and mellow with creamy tannins. More savory, meaty finish. Drink now or hold.

It offers up effusive aromas of ripe black fruit, crushed slate, cracked peppercorns, seared meat, garrigue and subtle oak spice. Full bodied, mouth coating, but with plenty of savory depth and complexity beyond the dense core of dark fruit. Despite the intensity of the wine, it draws you back time and time again with nicely integrated acidity and ever evolving aromas emerging from the glass. Serious wine. Drink now or anytime over the next 10-15 years.
