Reviewed February 2025Mulberries, blackberries, spices, cedar and licorice on the nose. The palate is fleshy and medium- to full-bodied with velvety tannins. Very clean and pure. A blend of 60% touriga nacional, 25% touriga franca, 10% tinta roriz and 5% tinta francisca. (JGA)

91+ points. I tasted again the 2022 Manoella Tinto that had settled in bottle for one year. I think this cooler property is showing quite well in the warm 2022 vintage. The wine has only 13% alcohol, which is even lower than the 2021. It keeps the profile, fruit-driven and primary, perhaps with some notes of graphite and more tannins, serious and harmonious, showing really well. (LG)

This big and bouncy red with the funny name from Portugal is very interesting and just plain old neat-o. Boysenberry, blackberry and red cassis fruit dominate. Very pure and upfront. It is smoooooth and also offers up light baking spices and clean fresh wood at the top of the palate. Fresh is pretty much the word to describe everything about this wine. The finish is long and soft. This one may be a little too scarily easy to drink. Luckily, I know where to buy more.

I really liked this wine at the tasting and now coming back to it, the nose has gone crazy but I'm really into it. There's this intense punch of bright fruit, cherry, strawberry, orange somehow, intense raspberry, oil cured olives, and then perfume-y floral notes come in. The palate is relatively big and dark, there's touches of red fruit around the edges and a strong floral finish, but it's really interesting the whole way through and really compelling in a slightly weird way. I wouldn't say this wine is bonkers weird, but it's definitely got a big personality and isn't afraid to show it. Very fun wine.
