Review Date: 01/202480% whole bunch. Mid crimson. Attractive bouquet, while showing the stems more than most. This is not hyper concentrate but delivers an absolutely delightful succulence on the palate, fine grained tannins, lower acidity, and very good length. Sensual. Drink from 2030-2037. Tasted Nov 2023.

Note: from a leased .40 ha holding released under the Maison Virgile Lignier label; 80% whole clusters. This possesses an interesting nose that is at once perfumed yet distinctly sauvage in character with plenty of spice nuances present on the mostly red berry, black pinot and soft earth scents. There is excellent detail and richness to the caressing yet quite powerful medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate with dry extract on the lightly stony, youthfully austere and highly persistent finish where the only nit is a touch of warmth.*Burghound Outstanding!*

Notes of red berries, cherries, orange zest and rose petals introduce the 2022 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Aux Murgers, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and perfumed wine that's supple and refined, concluding with a saline finish.
This was my first visit to this 12-hectare domaine in Morey-Saint-Denis, where the estate's holdings are complemented by some carefully chosen négociant exchanges and acquisitions. Virgile Lignier is an adept of whole bunches and looks for gentle extraction during vinification, followed by maturation in increasingly discreet cooperage. I left impressed by a winery that's clearly made appreciable progress over the last few years, delivering a range of sauve, fleshy 2022s with good depth and balance.(WK)

Review Date: 01/2024
The 2022 Nuits Saint-Georges Aux Murgey 1er Cru, containing 80% whole bunches, has a refined bouquet with raspberry and wild strawberry fruit laced with clove and light tea leaf aromas. The palate is medium-bodied with gentle grip. It is quite strict and linear, with fine depth, perhaps requiring a little more complexity on the powdery, curry leaf-tinged finish, which does convey elegance and purity. Afford this four or five years in bottle.(NM)
