The Thibon family acquired the Libian property in 1670, and in 1970 Jean-Pierre Thibon decided to wholly focus on wine production. Since then the estate has grown to 25 hectares of vineyards and 8 hectares of "nourishing" land planted to olive trees, vegetable and flower gardens, and grains to support the organic and biodynamic viticulture. Mas de Libian began its biodynamic farming in 2005 and was shortly certified by Demeter afterwards. "Calade" is a blend of 90% Mourvèdre and 10% Grenache all from the galet soils on the property.
