2023 Besoain "Single Vineyard" Pinot Noir Leyda

2023 Besoain "Single Vineyard" Pinot Noir Leyda

Notes

Besoain Wines is a boutique Chilean winery founded by Miguel Besoain (along with his family) with a vision to produce small-batch, terroir-driven wines. Their journey began in 2004 with just a 2,500-liter vat and nine barrels. The estate cultivates its own vineyards — sustainably managed and hand-harvested — and emphasizes meticulous grape selection and careful winemaking informed by Miguel’s education in oenology in Burgundy. The 2023 Besoain “Single Vineyard” Pinot Noir is a hand-harvested, small-production wine from Chile’s Limarí Valley. This region is in northwestern Chile, close to the Pacific coast, where the cool ocean breezes lend elegance and tension. The Pinot Noir is fermented in stainless steel tanks, then spends 10 months in French oak. It offers aromas of dark cherry, plum, blackberry, nutmeg, and touches of dark chocolate, with subtle minerality. On the palate it’s balanced and refined, with fine tannins and fresh acidity, emphasizing subtlety rather than power.
