An unusually perfumed nose, at least for Clos de Vougeot, reflects notes of red cherry, dark raspberry and newly turned humus-tinged earth. Like the Clos des Réas, the mouthfeel of the middle weight flavors is decidedly generous if not especially dense, all wrapped in a punchy, detailed and youthfully austere finale that is slightly firmer.
