2015 Greer Rutherford Cabernet Sauvignon

Review Date: 01/2026

Showing beautifully, the 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon offers ripe, exotic aromatics of currants, red plums, dried, savory flowers, and leather. Based on 100% Cabernet Sauvignon and aged 19 months in 60% new French oak, it's full-bodied, broad, layered, and seamless on the palate, with resolved tannins and a great finish. I think it's in a good spot today, yet I see no reason it shouldn't keep for another 15+ years if well stored. Drink 2026-2041.

Notes

A great location in the heart of Napa Valley gives the Greer Vineyard a host of top-flight neighbors: Rubicon, Scarecrow, and Phelps, to name just a few. But this small family winery doesn't rely solely upon their location, having enlisted well-regarded winemaker Aaron Pott (formerly of Quintessa) to craft the wine. Aaron has done his job so well that Greer has become a hard wine to purchase, selling out their small-production every vintage soon after release via their mailing list.
