2018 Pietracupa Taurasi
JR
Jancis Robinson
Review Date: 02/2025Deep ruby. Rich, deep nose of wild strawberry and cherry and more than a touch of tobacco leaf. Supple fruit with firm tannins. Long tactile finish were the acidity, tannins and fruit build a fantastic unity. (WS) 17++

Notes
The 2018 Pietracupa Taurasi is a powerful, sophisticated Aglianico often called the "Barolo of the South." The nose is dark and aromatic, featuring black cherry, scorched earth, smoke, and black pepper. On the palate, it is full-bodied and deeply concentrated, with firm, architectural tannins and a racy, volcanic acidity. The finish is exceptionally long and savory, marked by iron and spice. Built for the cellar, it will evolve beautifully over the next decade.
