Reviewed October 2024Here there is no reductive funk with an expressive and very pretty nose that combines notes of spiced plum and black cherry with those of earth, soft wood and a hint of tea. The super-sleek and beautifully detailed medium weight flavors are also supported by relatively fine-grained tannins that shape the complex, balanced, focused and impressively long finale. The 2023 Givry A Vigne Rouge is more backward and earthy on the nose, yet it retains delineation and poise, light graphite scents percolating through the dark fruit with time. Quite Pommard-like. The palate is medium-bodied with a sapid entry, fine balance and good weight. Again, it is quite Pommard-like, with satisfying grip on the finish. It's just missing a bit of aftertaste, but otherwise, a well-crafted Givry.(NM)
