2021 Boroli "Cerequio" Barolo
94
James Suckling
Review Date: 01/2025An approachable wine with cherry jelly, licorice, smoke, wood and game on the nose. The palate is super juicy and easy to drink, with a full body, refreshing acidity and firm yet ripe, velvety tannins. Drinkable now, but best from 2026.

When we talk about the historical "Grand Crus" of the Langhe, Cerequio is always part of the conversation. Straddling the border of La Morra and Barolo, this magnificent amphitheater of vines is famous for producing wines of unparalleled balsamic complexity and power.
The nose is instantly recognizable. It completely bypasses heavy, extracted fruit, offering instead a soaring, high-toned wave of wild mint, eucalyptus, and crushed black tea leaves. Beneath those classic Cerequio balsamic notes lies a precise, "crunchy" core of red cherry, blood orange, and a distinct, cooling ferrous minerality.
There is no other Cerequio at this price point, this is an absolute deal.
