Founded by longtime hospitality veterans Michael Richardson and Thomas DeBiase, Jupiter Wine Co. was created to prove that wine can be both honest and humane. Based in Sonoma, their mission is to redirect 100% of net profits toward affordable housing for the agricultural and hospitality workers who make the industry possible. Every bottle challenges the corporate model of "sustainability" that too often ignores people. Their minimal-intervention wines are grown organically, fermented naturally, and bottled without artifice. "Butterflies and Golden Lies" is 100% Friulano from Las Cimas Vineyard in the Russian River Valley, a grape known by many names "Sauvignonasse, Tocai Friulano, Jakot" but none more expressive than Friulano itself. Destemmed fruit was fermented on skins with native yeast and aged ten months in concrete, unfined and unfiltered, with just 20 parts sulfur added before bottling. The result is a luminous amber-hued white that balances supple texture and subtle grip with layered notes of stone fruit, wildflower honey, preserved lemon, and a faint herbal edge. Fresh acidity lifts the richness while fine tannins give it shape and tension. Pair with spiced or pickled dishes, seafood, or roasted vegetables. It is soulful, generous, and alivean eloquent expression of Jupiter’s belief that wine should inspire connection as much as pleasure.
