Karatta "Griffin" Sparkling Shiraz-Cabernet Robe South Australia

Karatta Wines is a family-owned estate that was founded by Peg and David Woods in 1997. The winery and estate vineyards are located at the family property on the Limestone Coast, near the town of Robe. Peg and David first started working with the land in the area in 1975 when they established the Griffin Pastrol Company, a sheep grazing business. They purchased the historic Karatta House in 1989, and just a few years later realized the potential of the surrounding land and planted their first vineyard, named Tenison Vineyard. Later, the family then wanted to produce a larger selection of varietals, so they purchased the 12 Mile vineyard in 2000. The “Griffin” Sparkling Shiraz-Cabernet is made from equal parts of both varieties and is aged in seasoned French oak barrels before its second fermentation.
