Wine Spectator
Review Date: 11/2025Round and mellowed, with good range, showing subtle notes of blanched almond and paraffin, while savory details of dried oregano and sage merge with orchard fruit and quince. Focused and mineral-driven through the salty, medium-bodied finish. (KB)

Notes
Founded in 1980, Domaine Alain Cailbourdin has become one of Pouilly-Fumé's benchmark estates, earning acclaim for its precise, terroir-driven Sauvignon Blancs. Working primarily with the region's most distinctive soil types, Cailbourdin focuses on traditional viticulture, hand harvesting, low yields, and separate parcel vinification to showcase the unique character of each site. "Les Cris" is sourced from a southwest-facing vineyard planted over 40 years ago on Portlandian limestone, a soil known for imparting the chalky minerality and tension that define some of the Loire Valley's finest Sauvignon Blancs. Farmed using organic practices, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged entirely in stainless steel, preserving its vibrant fruit, purity, and pronounced mineral character.
