93pts Ian d'Agata Wine: "Good full yellow. Delicately smoky aromas and flavours of apple sauce, pear, and puff pastry. Long and lovely, this drinks simple and straightforward. What’s there not to like? ‘Caracolles’ is the ancient name of the snail, or escargot in more modern French (while the Alsatian name ins Schnakator). The vines are located in the bottom of the Altembourg where there is lots of water thanks to the stronger clay nature of the soil there. Gorgeous with salmon and anything involving mushrooms.
