2011 Greyscale Wines "Cuvée Blanc" Napa Valley White Blend

Wine Enthusiast
Review Date: 02/2015Time in bottle has done nice things for this white, a blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc (half of it fermented in oak) and 15% Sémillon. Caramel and vanilla dominate on the nose, with the palate crisp in fresh-squeezed lemon and tart apple, especially on the finish. The oak influence shows in positive ways, adding depth and creaminess to the texture. (VB)

Notes
Greyscale’s Cuvée Blanc reflects the estate’s nuanced, Bordeaux-inspired approach to white winemaking, blending Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon from cool-climate Napa Valley vineyards. Sourced from sites with gravelly alluvial soils and strong marine influence, the wine shows the lift and precision typical of Napa’s southern reaches even in the cooler 2011 vintage. Bright citrus, white flowers, and subtle oak spice are carried by fresh acidity and a clean mineral line, offering a refined, quietly expressive take on Napa white Bordeaux style.
