Leacock’s is one of Madeira’s historic producers, founded in the mid-18th century after John Leacock settled on the island and entered the wine trade. Over the following decades the company grew through partnerships with notable merchants and later played an important role in combating phylloxera, with members of the Leacock family contributing research and vineyard solutions that helped preserve Madeira’s traditional grape varieties. In 1925 the house joined the Madeira Wine Association, now the Madeira Wine Company, where the brand continues to be produced. The Fine Dry Sercial reflects Madeira’s long-standing tradition of age-worthy, naturally fortified wines made using the island’s classic methods.
