Vaghi 60 Year Old Bas Armagnac
The outrageous collection of Armagnacs that we've amassed from the cellars of Château de Bordeneuve represent a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the world's oldest brandy appellation's most exquisite old products at unprecedented prices. If you go back to the well today and try to acquire similar vintages from any producer, you'll find that these vintage Armagnacs, if still available, are quadruple the price. This unique bottling is one of the mysteries of the collection. It was originally listed as a 1960, but further investigation uncovered the truth - this was one of the few age-stated products in the vast inventory. What's more exciting is that this product was likely bottled sometime before 2015; the lot code indicates it could be bottled in 2013 or 2006, so every drop in here was distilled before 1953. Old or not, it doesn't much matter if it's not great. Let's have a go. The nose is an incredible ultra-aged rancio - dried plums, dried mint, sativa, clove, sarsaparilla, orange oil, chocolate fudge, and dark, old, cracked leather. On the palate it's got surprising freshness and, of course, strong oak. The tannic presence is seedless and drying but still exhibits a huge caramel character. Plenty of root beer and spice as well. A fabulous ultra-aged Armagnac that's obviously extremely well blended to retain freshness while offering tremendous depth.

Notes
Vaghi Armagnac is an independent bottler dedicated to preserving the individuality and quiet grandeur of Armagnac. Rather than distilling itself, Vaghi curates exceptional casks from traditional, often family-run producers, releasing them with minimal intervention to preserve their natural character. The focus is on single-cask, vintage-dated Armagnacs, frequently bottled at natural strength and presented with clear, transparent labeling. Shaped by traditional distillation and long maturation in oak, these spirits evolve from vibrant eaux-de-vie into layered, harmonious expressions marked by fruit, spice, and depth rather than weight. Spanning nearly a century of distillation, this library offers a rare perspective on Armagnac through individual vintages—each bottle a singular, unrepeatable record of time, place, and tradition.
