Clone #1 is the UC Davis shiraz clone, sourced from vines planted in 1868 at Best's Vineyard in Victoria, Australia. Biodynamically farmed on the limestone hillsides of Purisima Mountain, this grew a bold and flavorful syrah, packed with meaty flavor and espresso-black tannin. A cushioned, voluptuous red for long-braised lamb.
Notes
Gus Kalaris founded Axios in 1999 to much acclaim. His goal is to produce a world class Pomerol style red wine from the estate under the Kalaris label. The Axios 2003 is 100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown in Napa Valley. It's all hillside and mountain fruit that has been hand sorted.
