Reviewed August 2025The 2023 Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard has a compelling savoriness. Flint, oolong tea and mushrooms complement a core of red and black cherry fruit. The medium-bodied palate is impressively concentrated, and its new oak spice and flinty character are well integrated. It has a powerful yet refined tannic structure, vibrant acidity and a very long finish. It should be long lived in the cellar. 96+ (EB)

The 2023 Pinot Noir Hyde Vineyard is a heady, boisterous wine. A blast of dark cherry/plum fruit, rose petal, blood orange and spice makes a strong first impression. There's gorgeous depth in the glass, along with striking balance. Calera clone yielded a striking, world-class Pinot Noir endowed with remarkable depth and purity.

An especially nervy, singular red from a topnotch vineyard on the Napa side of Carneros. A vivid, reduced, wet-stone aroma gives way to focused, concentrated sour cherry, black tea and black cherry flavors. A full body and moderate tannins add to a sense that it needs time to open up. Drinkable now, but best from 2028. (JG)
