A pretty and even ruby. The bouquet is fine and elegant with a little more density than the first three 1ers Crus. On the cusp of strawberry and raspberry, with a balanced structure between fine tannins and light acidity. Very gracious, elegant wine. Silkier than usual. Drink from 2029-2035. Tasted Nov 2024.

In contrast to the cranky Corbeaux, the 2023 Clos Prieur was in fine form and showing beautifully. The wine’s aromatic constellation is complex and refined, offering up scents of red and black cherries, black plums, spiced meats, mustard seed, a lovely base of dark soil tones, bonfire, coffee bean and cedary oak. On the palate the wine is pure, full-bodied and soil-driven in personality, with superb depth at the core, ripe tannins, lovely grip and a long, complex and very precise, seamlessly balanced finish.
