95
Wine Spectator
Review Date: 10/2018Rich and caressing, with ripe black cherry and plum fruit flavors unraveling effortlessly, shaded by graphite, spice and gravel elements. Balanced, with serious grip on the back end and terrific length. The lush fruit details make this approachable now if you decant. Best from 2020 through 2038. (BS)

Sporting ripe fruit flavors of dried cherry and blackberry preserves, the 2012 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is definitely a warm vintage Sangiovese. You are treated to abundant softness, fruity succulence and sweet flavors of both fruit and spice. All that opulence makes this a good near or medium-term Brunello that tastes pretty darn good even now at this young stage. (ML)

Some attractive, spicy dried-cherry aromas with dried flowers and a subtly fragrant, dusty edge as well. The palate has a gently grainy array of tannins with a core of red plums and cherries. Drinking well now.

Deep ruby-red. Dark cherry and spices on the nose are complicated by flint and herbs. Rich, deep and quite tannic in the mouth, offering good cut but finishing with some dry tannins and repeating notes of flint and minerals. Deeper and richer than the 2013 Brunello, but not especially fleshy and not really any better than that wine. (ID)
