2016 Quinta do Pinto "Estate Collection Red" Lisboa

Wine Advocate
Review Date: 07/2022The 2016 Estate Collection red is mostly a blend of Aragonez (22%), Tinta Miúda (13%), Syrah (23%) and Petit Verdot (22%), with Cabernet Sauvignon and Touriga Nacional dividing the rest, separately aged for 12 months in used French barriques and concrete tanks. It comes in at 14.6% alcohol. Showing plenty of fruit concentration, it still seems light in the mid-palate in terms of mouthfeel. It expresses the Syrah well, in particular, then the structure comes out and dominates a bit. Overall, this is still a little tight, although not unapproachable. Come back next year for better results. In fact, it won't be released until the end of 2022 or early 2023. There were 22,666 bottles produced. (MS)

Notes
Quinta do Pinto is a woman-owned and operated winery led by sisters Rita and Ana Cardoso Pinto. Originally founded by their father, the estate is located in the Alenquer region of Lisbon and spans 63 hectares (156 acres) of vineyards, primarily planted on south-facing hillsides nestled between the Montejunto mountain range and the Tejo River. This part of the Lisbon benefits from natural protection against the cold, damp winds of the nearby Atlantic Ocean. These ideal conditions reduce the need for chemical treatments, allowing the vines to thrive naturally.
