A deep, translucent ruby color with an orange hue, the 2016 Extra Brut Rosé Franciacorta Riserva Annamaria Clementi mixes pleasure with precision. White strawberries blend with sweet rose tones and an enriching hint of almond custard as this forms up in the glass. It splashes across the palate with saline minerals a tinge of savory spice evolves toward the close. The 2016 leaves a steely sensation and a slight bitterness as nuances of sour citrus fade. Everything that makes the Annamaria Clementi legendary, but in Rosé form. This is 100% Pinot Nero from three specific old-vine parcels, with the color coming from a brief skin maceration. It, too, spends years on the lees, developing a stunning spectrum of wild strawberry, pomegranate, blood orange, and smoky, savory spice. It’s one of the most serious, structured, and gastronomic sparkling rosés made anywhere in the world.
