Review Date: 06/2025This well-structured blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon offers elegant fennel and refined French oak aromas, with notes of coffee and toasty spice. The wine balances power and finesse, supported by sweet fig richness and depth and minerality from calcareous clay soils. A polished, layered red with ten months’ oak aging and great aging potential.

Notes
The Cuesta del Herrero is a blend of 50% Tempranillo, 30% Garnacha, 12% Merlot, nd 8% Cabernet Sauvignon, from Finca Ayles, the only Vino de Pago in Aragon. A "Vino de Pago" is the highest classification of wine in Spain, even above Denominación de Origen Calificada (DOCa). The term "Pago" refers to a single estate or vineyard with unique characteristics — such as its microclimate, soil, and grape quality — that distinguish it from surrounding areas. Thes are single estates that have been recognized for exceptional, terroir-driven quality, with strict regulations ensuring control from vineyard to bottle. In essence, each Vino de Pago is its own appellation – a Grand Cru of Spain, in many ways. The climate at Finca Ayles is continental, leading to wines with fantastic density and concentration, and the Cuesta de Herrero is aged in French and American oak, adding even more structure.
