The wonderful Benrinnes distillery was bottled from a single refill hogshead at a natural cask strength of 48%. Distilled in 2007 it may be some of the final semi-triple distilled Benrinnes ever made. The lovely Speyside distillery had, like Mortlach, featured an unusual system of distillation where certain portions of each run were held back to be add to the previous spirit distillation resulting in a very unusual character. While this on doesn't explicitly state sherry, there's definitely some of the savory side of sherry in the character. Expect a nose of highland heather and red fruit. The palate is meaty and fruity with a powerful peppery finish.
