2019 Stag's Leap Wine Cellars "Cellarius Series" Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon
92
Int'l Wine Review
Review Date: 04/2025The 2019 'Cellarius Series' Cabernet Sauvignon opens with a vibrant bouquet of blackberry, black currant, and ripe cherry, woven with notes of mocha, tobacco and sweet baking spices. On the palate, it’s medium to full-bodied and layered with ripe dark fruit framed by round tannins. The finish is long and velvety, leaving behind a lasting impression of dark berries and subtle spices. An approachable Cabernet that is ready to be enjoyed now. (JD)

Notes
In a quest to highlight perspective, Cellarius is named after a 17th-century Dutch cartographer. Vintage notes from Joe Czerwinski for Wine Advocate: "One of Napa Valley's iconic estates, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars, founded by Warren Winiarski, has been jointly owned and operated by a partnership between Tuscany's Antinori family and Washington's Chateau Ste. Michelle since 2007. Winemaker Marcus Notaro joined Stag's Leap Wine Cellars in 2013, arriving from another Antinori-CSM joint venture, Col Solare in Washington State. After nearly a decade, it seems clear that he's becoming more and more comfortable with the role and the local conditions." (09/2022)
