The 2021 Origin, a varietal Cabernet Sauvignon, is darkly floral in character with crushed stone minerality and an array of black fruits and exotic spices. This is soft and round, with crisp blackberries and currants underscored by brisk acidity. The 2021 finishes remarkably fresh with resonating crystalline tannins and inner violet florals. What a beauty.

Notes of blackberries, cassis, dried herbs, earth and some leather, too. Medium body with firm tannins. It's dark and chewy on the palate with blackberries and bark dominating. Focused and serious at this stage. 100% cabernet sauvignon.

Showcases the realised potential of Cabernet Sauvignon in Paso. Pyrazine notes on the nose, which blow off, leading to dark fruit, including cassis and cooked-down black fruits. Dominating the palate are the same dark fruits plus tannins, which will integrate further over time. Spice notes and leather peek out, hinting at further tertiary notes to come.

All varietal from a mix of sites in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles, the 2021 Origin spent 18 months in 80% new French oak. Classic Cabernet notes of darker currants, cedary oak, sagebrush, and chocolaty spice all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a round, nicely textured mouthfeel. 92+
