Review Date: 05/2025Domaine Lafarge-Vial has now added the name of the lieu à dit to the label for their bottlingof Côte de Brouilly. The vineyard of Brulhié lies just above and alongside of Château Thivin onthe slope, with an exposition facing due south. The wine has turned out splendidly in the 2023 vintage, offering up a gorgeous nose of red plums, cherries, sweet cranberries, bonfire, stony soiltones, gamebird, peonies and an exotic touch of red curry in the upper register. On the palate thewine is deep, full-bodied and complex, with great transparency down to its soil, buried tannins, tangy acids and a long, perfectly balanced and vibrant finish. Great juice. 2028-2055+.

Located just above Château Thivin in pink granite soils, the 2023 Côte de Brouilly Brulhie has a ripe, quite showy bouquet of macerated red cherries and raspberry coulis. The palate is medium-bodied with hints of hoisin and cassis, saturated tannins and good depth on the finish. More opulent in style, this will drink well for several years.(NM)

Mid purple. Bananas and boiled sweet aromatics, unexpected by all of us. This soon cleans up to give a more classic red fruit, still a hint of banana behind, then firmer structure to finish. I have a feeling that today’s tasting may not be typical of this wine. Drink from 2026-2029. Tasted Dec 2024.
