A soaring, elegant wine made from just 17 ares, this is another testament to the specialness of this Premier Cru perched on a hillside (the domaine's steepest plot). It's wound up with a long life expectancy, but there is some mid-term appeal, too. Fetchingly dry, tugging tannins and rearing acidity give this firm, nervy structure. It will all ease up in time into the decadently ripe red fruits touched with toast.

The 2023 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru La Richemone is the most brooding wine in the range—as usual. Unwinding in the glass with notes of dark berries, incense, grilled squab and orange rind, it's full-bodied, dense and concentrated, with a rich, layered mid-palate and a long, carnal finish.(WK)

Note: 100% whole cluster. An wonderfully floral-suffused nose freely reveals its aromas of red and dark pinot fruit, jasmine tea and a whiff of just turned earth. The beautifully detailed, mineral-inflected and vibrant middle weight flavors also firm up noticeably on the moderately austere, serious and compact finale. I would make the same observation here that I made about the Ech, e.g., that this is a bit light for what it is but the ineffable elements of class and grace make this quite appealing.*Burghound Sweet Spot Outstanding!*
