Roumier’s Clos de la Bussière is consistently among the best values among the top flight of Burgundy producers. The 2021 vintage is no exception, with its lovely density of plummy fruit on the initial attack, nuance of liquorice and clove, and hints of smoke and earth. The texture on the palate has a beautiful density without heaviness, marvellous length, and enough structure to let this wine age gracefully. Roumier has extracted carefully but firmly, using half whole clusters and punching down and pumping over carefully to ensure optimal concentration. (CC)

The 2021 Morey-Saint-Denis 1er Cru Clos de la Bussière, from an early ripening site, has turned out beautifully, wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, dark berries and plums mingled with warm spices and orange zest. Medium to full-bodied, rich and layered, it's deep and impressively concentrated, with powdery structuring tannins and a long, perfumed finish. (WK)

Glowing mid purple. Beautifully perfumed in the lighter style of the vintage. The stems (50% whole bunches) are not especially evident though there is a little minor greenness at the finish which will play out as the fruit emerges at maturity. Slightly darker wilder fruit, plums and raspberries with the usual wilder edge of Clos de la Bussière.

Not surprisingly, the Clos de la Bussière is nicely reflecting the inherent elegance of the 2021 vintage. The nose wafts from the glass in a lovely blend of red and black cherries, venison, a fine base of soil tones, vinesmoke, a dollop of raw cocoa and vanillin oak. On the palate the wine is bright, deep and full, with a lovely core, good soil inflection and grip, fine-grained tannins and a long, complex and seamlessly balanced finish. (JG) 91-92+
