2019 Filomena "Griffin's Lair Vineyard" Sonoma Coast Syrah

I have been wanting to try this wine for some time and I must admit, I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. It exudes a complex aromatic mix of bacon, subtle smoke, charcoal and black fruit. Smooth, flavor-packed and aged entirely in neutral oak (which allows the fruit to shine). Syrah lovers will not want to miss this one, especially at this price.

Winemaking notes: 100% whole cluster indigenous yeast fermentation. Fermented for 30 days on skins, then pressed and aged 16 months in neutral French oak puncheons. From one of the most revered cool-climate Syrah sites in all of California. Fruit from this wind-swept block in the Petaluma Gap / Sonoma Coast produces some of the most distinctive Syrah around.
