The whisky began its maturation with eight years in a single sherry cask before being transferred to an ex-bourbon barrel for another seven years, creating remarkable depth and layered complexity. Bottled at a robust 62.8% cask strength without compromise, it opens with a nose of sherried truffle, molasses, sherbet, vanilla, and sandalwood over subtle oak. The palate is luscious and silky, with chocolate-coated sherry, cracked black pepper, bitter cocoa, and waves of vanilla and dried fruit, leading into a long finish of marmalade, oak, and classic cocoa bitterness. This limited Expedition release showcases Amrut’s mastery of both tradition and innovation, delivering one of the most compelling Indian whiskies ever bottled.
