Yiannis Economou has reached cult-like status among those in the know. His winemaking chops are fierce, having studied winemaking in Alba and working for producers Piedmont like Scavino and Ceretto and Bordeaux with Château Margaux. Taking that knowledge, he returned to Crete to work his family vineyards. He now works with some of the best old vines on the island, including parcels that are own-rooted including rare clonal selections of the indigenous grape Liatiko. Using precise but low intervention winemaking methods and only native yeasts he creates some of the most cravable wines from all of Greece.
