The 2020 Brunello di Montalcino bursts from the glass with aromas of mint-infused black cherries, sweet smoke and autumnal spices. It's silky-smooth yet lifted and spry with tart red and blue fruit notes swirling throughout. Fine-grained tannins flex upon the senses as the 2020 finishes with a crunchy minerality, admirable length and solid structure while leaving a staining of primary concentration that promises years of positive development. Overt and rich wine with jammy character. Cooked cherries at the first sniff, then it opens to licorice, mediterranean herbs and yellow stone fruit. But then the medium-bodied palate shows freshness with almost sour acidity and juicy character and chalky yet ripe tannins. Brightness and ripeness at the same time. Drink now.

The 2020 Ferrero Brunello di Montalcino is the kind of wine that reminds you why we love Sangiovese from the south. Claudia Ferrero’s estate in Sant'Angelo in Colle is known for producing wines with soul and substance, and in the warm, generous 2020 vintage, she has crafted a Brunello that is open-armed and incredibly inviting. While the 2019s are structural giants built for the cellar, the 2020 is all about immediate pleasure and charm. It smells like the Tuscan countryside in late summer. On the palate, it is full-bodied and round. It is juicy, earthy, and satisfyingly rustic. This is the perfect Brunello to pop tonight with a hearty pasta or grilled lamb chops while you wait for your more austere vintages to mature. Honest, delicious, and full of heart.
A Brunello that overdelivers in the best possible way. The nose is classic Montalcino—dried cherry, wild herbs, cedar, and worn leather—but there’s a freshness here that keeps everything lifted and vibrant. On the palate, the wine balances ripe red fruit with savory earth, tobacco leaf, and a subtle balsamic note that adds real complexity. The tannins are firm but polished, giving structure without overwhelming the fruit. For a young Brunello, it already shows impressive harmony, with enough depth and tension to satisfy serious Sangiovese lovers while still being incredibly approachable now.

Notes

From a rising star producer in Montalcino, the 2020 Ferrero Brunello di Montalcino is a stunningly pure and elegant expression of Sangiovese. From a vintage known for its balance of ripe fruit and fresh acidity, this wine showcases remarkable finesse. The nose is vibrant and aromatic, with notes of red cherry, wild raspberry, and dried rose petal, accented by hints of sweet spice and crushed stone. On the palate, it’s medium-bodied and graceful, with a core of pristine red fruit framed by fine-grained, silky tannins and a bright, persistent acidity. The finish is long, clean, and intensely mineral. A beautiful, terroir-driven Brunello with both immediate appeal and significant aging potential.
