I always love the Domaine Jean Michel Giboulot Savigny-les-Beaune 1er Cru "Les Peuillets" because it is easily the most elegant of the four 1er Crus. It is incredibly deceiving because of how effortlessly this wine unfurls across the palate with its subtle notes of red fruits, spice and barely discernible oak notes. This feels like a water color painting where the colors are vibrant yet almost opaque. Fans of balanced, nuanced offerings will love this Savigny-les-Beaune.

Email JohnIt was especially fun to taste two vintages of this wine side by side. Even in its youth it's blessed with wonderful depth and richness along with just the right touch of lively acidity. It's certainly one of the best offerings I've tasted from Giboulot and I imagine it will only improve with a bit of cellaring. Drinks nicely now with a bit of aeration.
