Review Date: 08/2022So much candied-orange and dried-cherry fruit, with delicate notes of cardamon and allspice. Concentrated and highly-structured, with an emphatically dry balance that might be challenging for some. As impressive as it is, we think that even better quality would have been possible with slightly less extraction. A cuvee of all 13 varieties allowed for this appellation, from 100-year-old vines. From organically grown grapes. Drinkable now, but best from 2024. (SP)

The 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Terre Ferme is also terrific. A blend of 60% Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre, 10% Cinsault, and 5% Clairette rosé, it has a great core of darker cherry and strawberry fruits as well as ample new leather, camphor, and sandalwood-like nuances. It's another balanced, seamless, lively red that has ripe yet present tannins and outstanding length. It has lots of Mourvèdre character and is going to benefit from another couple of years in the cellar. 90+
